MPAC at AMO 2022
For the first time since 2019, municipalities and related organizations gathered in person to attend this year’s AMO Conference in Ottawa. MPAC was honoured to participate as an exhibitor and as a speaker, sharing the latest organizational updates and operational highlights at the conference. The session touched on the work we are doing to help municipalities explain the difference between Property Assessment and Taxation, and how we continue to support and foster the municipal experience.
“With almost 2000 delegates, AMO 2022 provided a wonderful platform for MPAC to connect with our valued municipal partners, both familiar, and new.” commented Mary Dawson-Cole, Director, Municipal and Stakeholder Relations. “I want to commend everyone who had a hand in organizing the conference. From the seamless registration to the rich and synergized content selected, AMO was able to provide a fulfilling experience of municipal education, opportunity and relationship building.”
During the session, MPAC was joined on stage by Chris Broughton, Director – Property Tax Policy Branch, from the Provincial Local Finance Division in the Ministry of Finance, who provided an update from the MOF. A 30-minute Q&A period then followed the presentation.
“It was an absolute pleasure to reconnect with our partners to provide important updates about what MPAC has been up to and how we continue to play a critical role in keeping property owners, and municipalities, informed while we await an announcement for next province-wide assessment update,” stated Carm Lipsi, Vice President and COO. “It was also great to share the stage with the Ministry of Finance as they provided a valuable update at this well-attended session. There were many questions that we were collectively able to address for the attendees.”
At the booth and during the presentation, MPAC was proud to showcase new messages that aim at helping property owners better understand the assessment and taxation process. Related materials will be made available to municipalities in the coming months to share within your communities.
